MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT
It is truly an honour to be the incoming President for 2017-2018. This is my 2nd time being the president of this association. I had the pleasure of being the president back in 2011-2012. We have an exciting year planned for our members and have made many changes we hope you all support. Our year starts off with our Kickoff Party and Membership Drive Sept 19th which is being held at Anderson’s Craft Ales. We have brought in a live band and will be having a beer tasting and tour of the facility. Our past presidents night is October 18th. We will be honouring those who have served our board in the past. We are excited to have Michael “Pinball” Clemons discussing Enhancing the Customer Service Experience. Our Christmas Party will be held again at the Lamplighter on November 30th. We are bringing back our ever popular Family Day Event held at the Boys and Girls Club February 10th. Curling will be held February 28th. Our Tradeshow is March 22nd. We are working hard planning an interesting April meeting which will include our elections night. Finally we have our year end golf tournament on August 16th.
I have chosen My Sisters Place as the charity for 2017/2018. It is a local organization that opens its doors to women aged 16-70 that share some common barriers. Most have experienced some form of abuse, trauma or isolation. Many are homeless or are at risk of being homeless. More than 80% have mental health issues. This organization provides a safe haven to these women, offers support and various other services. For more information on this charity please go to https://cmhamiddlesex.ca Our donations of $1,450.00 come from our Past Presidents Night, Holiday Party, Chili Cook-off and Curling Funspiel.
I will end by saying that it truly takes a team to run this association and I am very proud to be working with such a great group of individuals and I look forward to an amazing year.
Past-President, Linda Pereira, had chosen Women’s Community House as her charity and with your support we donated $1,760.00 to them during the 2016-2017 year.
